Offline Google Maps for Android

Google unveiled an offline version of its Google Maps application.

Google map for Android go Offline

Ideal for planning your journey when underground, the re-jigged Google Maps app for Android lets users save a local area for getting directions without access to a network or WiFi connection.

The service would work whether the phone was abroad and without access to a network, or in a subway station with no reception. Despite the lack of a connection, a device with GPS would still allow a blue dot to track the location on the map. Likewise, the compass would also work if the device has the feature enabled.

  2. Android is a descendant of a handset-based Operating System, you might find that some websites may recognize your tablet as a handset device and display the content as a reduced mobile version instead of in its general form.
